Heating Fuel Prices
Figured I'd parcel out some info here, since it's not long ago become a rather large subject-matter of discussion, with the skyrocketing value of oil...
Current predicament averages for many fuels (in their "natal" units):
#1 firing material oil (Kerosene): $4.97 per four quarts
#2 fuel oil: $4.53 per four quarts
LP gas (Propane): $3.26 per four quarts
Natural gas: $1.58 per therm
Electricity: $0.155 per kwh
Grove Pellets: $269 per ton
Timber-land pellets, size: $205 per ton
Cordwood: $195 per line
Converting to a cost per million btu of caloric energy, for straight comparison of the raw value:
#1 fuel oil (Mineral oil): $36.81
#2 fuel oil: $32.66
LP gas (Propane): $35.69
Of nature gas: $15.80
Electricity: $45.43
Copse Pellets: $16.30
Timber-land pellets, volume: $12.42
Cordwood: $9.75
Now, factoring in system efficiencies:
#2 oil - high-reaching efficiency (83%): $39.35
#2 oil - middle efficiency (75%): $43.55
#2 oil - low efficiency (55%): $59.39
LP - heaven-kissing efficiency (85%): $41.99
LP - middling efficiency (75%): $47.59
LP - low efficiency (55%): $64.90
NG - elevated efficiency (85%): $18.59
NG - mean efficiency (75%): $21.07
NG - low efficiency (55%): $28.73
Electricity - 98% efficiency: $46.36
Pellets - of great altitude efficiency (80%): $20.38
Pellets - low efficiency (70%): $22.29
Pellets - elevated efficiency, mass: $15.53
Wood - of great altitude efficiency (80%): $12.19
Forest-land - medium efficiency (60%): $16.25
Grove - low efficiency (40%): $24.38
Most petrifaction-fuel systems in the situation are in the "low" to "medium" ranges that I've given. Some are drop. A few are higher.
Pellet efficiency is cleave into "high," which represents emblematical boilers and furnaces, and "low," which represents pellet stoves.
"Size" pellet pricing is for set free pellets, rather than bagged, delivered to a hopper/silo, and is just as of today, from the manufacturer. ...
