Celebrations - 4 days

Four days... the programs are printed and folded and awaiting assembling. The countenance boxes are constructed and filled. Things are arrival together...

As I work on my daughter's nuptials, I think back to my own. My married man and I will celebrate thirty-five years together this year. Looking back to 1973 - an pleasing year:

The Watergate Aspersion broke unclose
The World Barter Center opened in New York
Roe v. Wade was heard by the Predominant Court
Founded on to treaty Express (FedEx) began operations
Skylab was launched
Secretariat won the Triplicate Crown - the first colt since 1948

There was a lot more - you can Google it or control out Wikipedia. I recollect the following year we worn out hours in lengthy lines at the gas stations as we went through a gas acme. Gee, some things never vary, do they?

I remember the week before my nuptials... we exhausted the week canning peaches and putting up other supplies (this was something my family did every summer - having a bridal did not stop the crops from enlarging nor did the need to shield them go away). I know by heart arguing with the pianist at the house of worship about the music. She wanted some horrible (to me) carol called "O Word Me". I wanted Chicago's "Tint My World". The soloist stepped in - he sang "Peep of day, Sunset" right before I came down the walk with my father (who was lamenting). It was perfect. The prime of day of the wedding, my mom, two cousins and I went over to the house of god to do the decorating and set up for the receipt. Then we went domicile and finished workmanship the food - no caterers, imagination restaurants or DJ's for us. The rite went off without a get stopped and the reception was fun. The acquisition collecting was small, but filled with lots of delight in and friendship.

I surmise we did something right since we've been together so lengthy.
