Brooklyn Welcomes a New Restaurant

Reasonable in time for summer a new eating-house has come to Brooklyn, full with outdoor seating. I can now confirm that Tastebud is a dreadful addition to Milwaukie Ave.They’ve been serving up pizza and other delights from their wood oven at farmers markets for a while. Now they’re putting down roots in Brooklyn and after my foot it there tonight I’d say we’re fortunate. Here’s what the Oregonian had to say about Tastebud;

Stamp Doxtader isn’t one to copper progress. Eight years ago he began trucking his movable wood-fired oven to the Portland Farmers Mart to bake pizza, breads and country desserts on the speckle. Doxtader’s Tastebud booth (named for the Canby landed estate he used to money-drawer) quickly claimed a raging following that only grew once he added wood-fire-baked bagels and seasonal stuffed pita sandwiches to his repertoire.

Doxtader still fires up his furniture at the twice-hebdomadal downtown Portland Farmers Mart, as well as the markets at Eastbank and Hillsdale. But the big information is the roving 36-year-old baker has in conclusion put down roots. After two months of hebdomadary Thursday-obscurity pizza frequent repetition-runs, Doxtader opens a persistent Tastebud chop-house Friday.

The eating-house’s new two-and-a-moiety ton Italian wood oven will fire up pizzas with toppings such as verdant garlic pesto, abode-cured pancetta and dandelion marmalade, more a few meaty entrees and desserts resembling a chocolate-era pudding solidify. Enticing salads and a tightly edited wine and beer inventory (look for selections from brother-in-law Alan Sprints’ Hair of the Dog Brewing Co.) circular out the list. In duration, Doxtader plans to add more feed and seafood dishes, brunch and perhaps a prix fixe household supper.

Doxtader is not a traditionalist when it comes to pizza combinations, preferring to let the seasonal ingathering direct his creations. “I’ve had a lot of wont baking at the markets and in fact got to know the seasons — there’s very diminutive that doesn’t bring into being a good pizza,” he says, citing ingredients as varying as nectarines and brussels young coleworts.
